Reuters pro previews Shuttle launch photos on iPad+Canon 5D MK II: no app required!
Reuters shooter Scott Audette has posted a brief story highlighting the successful use of a Canon EOS 5D Mark II and an Internet-connected Wireless File Transmitter WFT-E4 II A to cover the launch of Space Shuttle Atlantis last month. The workflow included extracting pictures from afar as well as remote camera control testing using an Apple iPad.
Called Space Shuttles, 5d Mark II’s and ipads, oh my!, Audette’s story is an interesting read and illustrates how much wireless and remote access technology has advanced over the years (though there’s plenty of room for improvement still!) and how integration of different hi-tech gadgets can bring to reality new ways of photo shooting (for pros and amateurs too!).
A video that accompanies the story is shown below.

How is it done? Thanks to Canon’s WFT Server that can be accessed from anywhere in the world by a mere web browser – namely, Safari on the iPad!
Check here a short video to see how the WFT Server allows easy – yet powerful – operation on a 5D MK II from an iPad.
