iPad bloodbath: Plastic Logic abandons its long-delayed e-reader because of rising [unsustainable — Ed.] competition on the market.
The Que, an A4-sized device [“A4” should have been the processor, not size — Ed.], was shown last January at the Consumer Electronics Show, with a price tag of $649 and a label of e-reader for business users.
Few weeks later Apple announced the iPad, priced starting from $499 and 200k-something apps ready for it. Go figure.
Richard Archuleta, Plastic Logic chief executive officer, said in a statement that they canned the Que and are …

According to Barclay Capital, iPad is cannibalizing sales of PCs and netbooks, as anticipated by many… but not Apple ones.
Since beginning of April, after the iPad came to Earth, the stocks of Apple and Intel began to diverge. Apple is up 23 percent from January 2010, while Intel oscillates around the zero mark.
iPad uses a chip designed by Apple, called A4, that does not come from Intel.
“The iPad’s tablet momentum has pressured the broader netbook and lower-end notebook arena,” wrote Tim Luke, semiconductor analyst for Barclays.
You can expect more anticompetitive …

A full MMORPG on the iPad, for free? You got it. It’s Pocket Legends by Spacetime Studios, LLC.
Just forgive the cartoonesque appearance of characters and make one. Then jump in and find others to play together. The rest is hack, slash, and dungeoneering.
Don’t look for the World of Warcraft-polish, though. Some location isn’t properly tuned for your difficulty level, for instance. But, the game really delivers and, heck, given what you pay you get an astounding performance/price ratio!
The app is optimized for iPhone too, and it looks like a miracle. …

Apple released iOS 3.2.2 for the iPad and, of course, iOS 4.0.2 for the iPhone.
The release fixes a critical bug, used by jailbreakme.com to jailbreak iOS devices in a breeze, but way more potentially nasty if exploited by malware.
At the moment there’s no news of such an attack circulating and maybe no one will come. But, do a favor to yourself and your iPad, and please update NOW.
Those who prefer it jailbroken have to wait a little, we suppose, just the time to get noticed by Dev-Team or whoever else …

Revenue from the Apple Stores worldwide was $2.58 billion in Spring quarter for Apple… and one of the primary reasons is iPad.
This number beats any whole Apple quarter from Winter of 1996 through Summer of 2004.
The launch of the iPad helped to increase visitors per store by 38.7 percent, same-store revenues by 52.9 percent, and non-Mac revenues by 106.3 percent.
Astonishing, since Macs are sold very well inside Apple Stores.

Snake Oil Seller Calls iPad Owners “Selfish Elitists” and Is Proven Clueless

Psychographic, we can read on MyType Blog, drives preferences and everyday behavior. So intellectuals love the movie Apocalypse Now, innovators like the board game Risk, and extroverts are more likely to drink at Starbucks.
Well, the psychographer on duty – you will know already – stated that iPad users are more likely to be selfish elitists.
And his numbers, wow!, are in line with results from a recent Forrester survey (he writes Forrestor, maybe on behalf of scientific accuracy).
You’ll be delighted to know that Forrester (Sarah crystal-ball Rotman Epps, to be precise; …

ihome iPad dock alarm clock seems like overkill

Now I’ve got an iPad, and I really enjoy it. I can even imagine bringing it into bed to read a book or play a game on occasion. And while I’d love to have a place to charge my iPad by my bedside table, the idea of an alarm clock dock for the iPad seems a little silly. But that’s what iHome has decided to give us in their new iA100ZE iPad Dock clock radio.
The dock can be set to sleep or wake with your …
