iOS 5 release is upcoming, are you ready for the 200+ new features?

So what are we waiting for?
What are those features, seen by many as Steve’s latest legacy?
Better Notifications: iOS 5 will include the new Notification Center, which can be accessed by swiping your finger downward on any iPhone screen. You can customize which notifications appear, including emails, texts, Game Center updates and weather. The point is to make notifications less like that interrupting cow in your knock knock joke.

Here we are, shortly after the iPad Skype app, Facebook has finally launched its official iPad app, after (literally) months of speculations and leaks.
Facebook for iPad, now available in the iOS App Store (update: it’s still rolling out), looks much like the version that leaked in July. The app is designed primarily as a consumption experience, which is why the app emphasizes photos. Photos take up the entire screen, and users can pinch to zoom in on them. Navigating through a photo album is done simply by swiping left or …

Blog aggregators are perfect for organizing all of the RSS feeds you like to follow.
BlogFire (free) is a mobile aggregator that does just that, but pushes notifications to your device for any blog site or feed that you manually add.
The app won’t bombard you with alerts if you don’t want it to, because you can pause notifications and mute sounds.
The Quiet Hours setting prevents BlogFire from notifying you about new posts.
You’re also able to determine the time period between receiving new alerts.
Sharing posts is easy, as well. To do …

This time may be the right time: the iPad (specifically the iPad 2) is getting an iPad-specific version of the beloved Skype app – with working cameras!
That’s cool for most users that still haven’t moved to the Facetime side of modern communication!
ZDNet has been able to preview the iPad-specific version of the Skype app and published several new pics along some pretty info.
Performance issues and worries?
Although Skype for iPad will work on both iPad versions, you’ll only be able to broadcast video from the iPad 2, since it has a …

Update to our previous iOS 4.3 post: iOS 4.3′s new Personal Hotspot works on iPhone 3GS – albeit only with cable and Bluetooth pairing!
Long-time friend Enrico has just tested iOS 4.3 on an iPhone 3GS and checked that Personal Hotspot, the internet connection sharing feature of 4.3, runs happily although only via the iPhone cable or a Bluetooth-paired connection.
So, as far as we know, Wi-Fi sharing is available only for iPhone 4.
As a result, iPhone 3GS users can still enjoy their beloved toy and share connectivity to iPad (non-3G) or …

Although in Chinese, the video below well deserves a look: a fake Steve Jobs, a chinese one namely, holds a press conference yesterday in Hong Kong to celebrate the launch of the MTR Mobile (Hong Kong’s transportation ) subway app (check here the app, if you dare!).

The clone at the conference was local celebrity Law Kar-ying; Law seems to have studied the man he was emulating quite well: he gets everything right, from the gulps of bottled water to the Levis and turtleneck.
Great!

Regexecution is a reference for regular expressions (commonly used in *nix, Mac OS X, PHP, Perl and a lot more programming languages).
Available as an iPad app, allows full character searching and real-time testing.
As anyone involved into programming and Mac OS X scripting, we deal almost every day with regular expressions, those somehow cryptic and pretty concise language expressions that provide great help in getting text and number pattern out of messy data.
It’s common in Perl, *nix shell scripting (hence the Mac OS X), PHP, Python, Ruby and more, so you’d …

Jim Lee found the iPad a good way to further express his comic art.
He sketched Wonder Woman on his iPad while getting a haircut, and he drew on a fan’s iPad instead of on paper, during a convention.
But Jim is for sure the only artist to have done a great job on the wrong side of the iPad. Provided that wrong means doesn’t go away when turning power off.
This unique iPad could be won by someone lucky attending ComiXology in New York City area, at booth 2127.
